Growing peanuts on the site with seedlings and in a non-seedling way - my reviews
PEANUT SEEDS - PLANTING AND CARE
When peanuts are spread out on the stalls of street vendors, it is difficult to pass by: the aroma of fried nuts attracts to itself as strongly as the smell of fresh hot bread or a kebab stewing on the coals. However, they are much more useful than both.
Hello fellow soldiers! Yes, yes, we are really a large army of dacha front soldiers in the battle for the harvest. But this is the lyrics, and now to the point.
I want to tell you how I started growing peanuts on my site. In my youth, when I was not yet engaged in the dacha (it appeared in our country in 1986), I considered peanuts a thermophilic culture. They brought him to our market from Central Asia, but five years ago, being already a mature summer resident, I once walked through the garden village to the train.
It was already the end of September or the beginning of October, the harvest was harvested, the summer cottages were empty, but, passing one site, I noticed a young woman who was digging up some strange bushes that looked like potatoes in the aboveground part. But there were no tubers on them. I got interested, came closer and asked what it was. And she was very surprised to hear a simple answer: peanuts. She asked how to grow it, to which the woman replied that her mother-in-law was doing this.
All the way home I thought only about peanuts. And I decided: well, not saints are burning pots! In winter, I began to study the Internet and found two videos on how to grow these wonderful nuts. One talked about the seedling method, the other about the reckless method.

I decided to try both. Seedlings began to grow in March. She poured fertile soil into the box, added sand, mixed and planted the germinated grains. By the way, they germinate very quickly: it is enough to wrap the grains in a damp cloth, and in five to six days they will sprout. In May, I already planted ready-made seedlings in the garden bed and ... And nothing came of it the first time. The bushes first started, and then wilted, without even starting to bloom.
I didn’t understand the reason.
In the second way, after germinating the grains, I planted them like this: I dug up a bed, made grooves, sprinkled with ash, watered and put the germinated grains. But she put it down thickly, as shown in the video. And that was a mistake!
The peanuts rose together. And since the bushes grow quite widely (I realized this later), there is not much room left for the tuber ovary. As a result, they did not mature well. This I discovered in the fall, collecting a meager harvest. I took into account my mistake the next year and made a conclusion from all this.
It is necessary to plant peanuts not with seedlings, but with sprouted grains immediately into the ground in early May - this way there is less trouble, and the result is better.
Later, I worked out the landing technology by trial and error. In 2019, she planted peanuts like potatoes: row spacing of 30 cm, distance in a row of 15 - 20 cm. This planting makes it possible to huddle bushes well.
After all, the mistake of some gardeners trying to grow peanuts is that they huddle it only once, but it is necessary to huddle the entire period while it blooms.
At this time, as soon as I come to the dacha, I immediately go to the bed with peanuts and, as soon as I see that new yellow flowers have appeared on the branches, I immediately take a shovel and, choosing the ground from the rows, I mercilessly fill all the bushes with earth. After five to seven days, the branches grow back and begin to bloom again.
And I again cover them with earth - both from above and paddling along the sides. And I do this until the bushes stop blooming. And then all care is reduced only to removing weeds from the aisles.
I start harvesting peanuts from 1 to 15 October. Even if the first autumn frosts and grabbed the leaves, this is not scary: they do not threaten the grain. I dig out the bushes, cut off the grain, wash it thoroughly, dry it in the garden, spread a sheet, and then take it home and dry it in the oven, otherwise it can get moldy. Then I put it in cloth bags and for the first time store it near the battery.
This year I took into account all the mistakes of previous years and as a result I got a good harvest (photo 1). There were 34-35 peanuts under the bushes. I treated all my friends and told them how to grow tasty and healthy nuts. I would be very glad if my story would interest readers. Plant peanuts, friends, and you will feast on its wonderful fruits all winter!
TWO WORDS ABOUT RASPBERRY
At first, it did not always make me happy - it froze out, then it died from the larvae of the May beetle. I summarized everything I read about her in Dacha and worked out a few rules for myself.
In the spring, when the snow has not yet completely melted, I sprinkle superphosphate directly over it.
When the buds begin to swell, I water it with a solution of effective microorganisms and carefully mulch with dry grass or straw.
Twice a season I feed it with nettle infusion (1:10).
Instead of mulch, rye can be sown in the aisles.
By the way
Peanuts are packed with antioxidants. And most importantly, there is absolutely no cholesterol in it! Therefore, nuts are indispensable for diabetes and gastrointestinal diseases. Folic acid is also present in peanuts, therefore its regular use improves hearing, stimulates brain activity, and normalizes hormones. At the same time, peanuts are high in calories, can sometimes cause allergies, and if consumed in excess, they lead to the formation of blood clots.
In the fall (in September) I put a glass of ash under each bush and fill it with small potatoes that remained after harvesting.
At the end of October, I water abundantly directly on the mulch, which prevents the raspberries from freezing in winter.
By following these simple rules, you will always be rewarded with delicious and healthy raspberries. In the photo there is grade 2, which is called the Reward.
