DIY heated bed
WARM DOWN AND OR REFERENCE DOWN WITH OWN HANDS
I made my first warm bed five years ago in the fall - and it still serves me faithfully. She placed it in an open area of the garden on the south side. I was so pleased with the result that a year later I got three more of the same.
1. The length of my universal beds is 4 m, width - 1 m, depth - 2 bayonets of a shovel.
2.In the process of digging a foundation pit for the garden bed, the top layer of soil was folded on one side, the bottom - on the other.
When the pit was ready, I put empty plastic bottles (1-5 liters) closed with lids on the bottom to keep the cold at the bottom of the bed. On the sides, for the same purpose, I installed sheets of packaging foam (if there is none, you can put empty bottles). The bottle was sprinkled with 2 cm of earth from the bottom layer. Then she laid a layer of organic matter - small branches, leaves, grass, tops of healthy plants (10 cm), sprinkled with the remaining soil from the lower layer. Spilled EM with Baikal diluted according to the instructions (20 buckets per garden bed). The earth from the upper layer was mixed in half with humus and laid on top.
3.Lined the sides with bricks left over from the dismantled oven. Once again I spilled everything with diluted Baikal EM (this time, two buckets were enough for the garden). She covered it with a layer of oat straw for the winter.

4. In the spring, when the snow melted, covered the bed with black plastic wrap. After a week, the ground warmed up well. I installed small arches over the garden bed, covered it with two layers of dense reinforced film and planted seedlings of tomatoes, hot peppers, and leeks in the greenhouse. I sowed basil, dill, parsley and lettuce seeds around the perimeter of the garden.
The seedlings quickly began to grow. Has not suffered from return frost. In early June, the film was removed. I liked the greens and leeks in the garden too.
In the fall, I brought 4 buckets of humus to this bed for digging.
5. And a year later she removed the soil to the very bottles, renewed the organic layer so that the garden bed would continue to warm. The removed soil was filled with compost (4 buckets per garden bed) and returned to its place. In the same way I look after the rest of the beds.
I grow on warm beds all kinds of cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkins, watermelons and melons. I start harvesting much earlier than my neighbors.
