EXOTE ON THE BED: PUMPKIN WILD
Cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkins and watermelons have long become habitual inhabitants of the garden for most gardeners.
But the list of delicious and healthy pumpkin seeds is much wider.
Have you tried growing squash, kavbuz and kruknek?
PUMPKIN-Krivosheyka - LANDING AND CARE
A year ago I first saw a crooknek at my friends' house. The plant looked like a crooked zucchini with warts.
Friends told me that this type of pumpkin keeps well and is delicious. Shared seeds. And this summer, the Krukneks settled on my site.
At the end of April, I held the seeds for 15 minutes in a pink solution of potassium permanganate, then germinated in a damp cloth on a battery. Sowed one at a time in cups to a depth of 2 cm.I planted seedlings in open ground at the age of 30 days.
I fed them every two weeks. First - with mullein solution (1: 1 0). During flowering and fruiting, I added 1 tbsp to this composition. complex mineral fertilizer. When there were few bees and bumblebees in the garden (it was rainy weather), I pollinated the flowers by hand.
Kruknek is resistant to drought, but responded well to watering with warm water. The bushes have grown to a height of about 70 cm.
Harvested from mid-July until the first frost. I removed only young crookneks up to 20 cm long. The overgrown ones become hard and tasteless and delay the formation of other fruits.
The fruits were baked in the oven. But most of all, the family liked canned crooknek. I cooked it like this.
She cut the fruits in circles. I put dill, 2-3 black peppercorns, 2-3 garlic cloves in sterilized jars. Poured boiling water for 15 minutes. I poured it out, brought the water to a boil again, added 1 tbsp each. salt and sugar, 50-60 ml of 9% vinegar for every 0 liters of water. I poured it into jars and rolled it up.

MY SQUASH - LANDING AND CARE
A seed seller told about large-fruited squash. She assured me that these pumpkins are incredibly tasty and keep well. I tried to grow them this season - I liked it!
I got banana squash. Their pulp is orange in color with a silky texture, firm, tender and sweet. It is believed that squash fully matures in one hundred days from the moment of germination. But my plants took almost three weeks longer.
I grew them like ordinary pumpkins, watered them on time, fed them with a mullein solution (1:10) once every three weeks, and once during the flowering period I applied a complex mineral fertilizer for pumpkins according to the instructions.
When I bought seeds, the seller said that there is a rule for squash: leave three lashes on the plant, pinch them so that each has one fruit. The largest squash-pumpkin grew in weight 30 kg, the rest - 15-18 kg.

KAVBUZ - LANDING AND CARE
In my garden practice, there were both melons and watermelons, and in the spring I got a packet of kavbuza seeds. I decided to grow through seedlings.
Before planting, the garden was abundantly filled with organic matter, added potassium nitrate (1 tablespoon with a slide per 1 square meter) and a half-liter can of ash in each hole. Otherwise, caring for the crop was no different from caring for other pumpkin seeds.
The summer for the experiments turned out to be quite successful, but the nights were cold for the thermophilic cabbuses, so I had to hide them under the spunbond at night, and in August, when the temperature at night began to drop to + 7 ... + 8 degrees, I threw a piece of film over the spunbond. The plants grew beautiful, their whips resembled watermelon with small flowers. By September, fruits ripened with a neutral pulp and a delicate delicate aroma of watermelon.

ADVICE TO PREPARE
My family loved the porridge from the kavbuz.
0,5 kg of kavbuz pulp I cut into cubes, Zet. I bring the milk to a boil, throw pumpkin cubes into it and simmer it over low heat for 15 minutes. I fall asleep 1 tbsp. washed millet, add salt and sugar to taste. Stirring occasionally, cook until thickened for another 20 minutes. I take it off the heat, wrap it up and let it stand for 10 minutes to make the taste more intense.

There is little space, so I plant them in containers and small frames. We had a very intense heat, all summer above 30 ° in the shade. I had to water it often and mostly at the root. The first fruits (while there was moisture) have grown, the rest will grow from a child's fist and rot. Why? What to do in the future?
