RASPBERRY NETTLE INSTEAD OF ROOT BREEDING
Can raspberries, a difficult culture, grow on their own? Maybe if you put love and respect into the business. At least that's what the author thinks, and it's hard to disagree with him.
JULY RASPBERRY HARVEST
All good health and longevity! In this difficult time, this is more relevant than ever. Today I want to talk about raspberries, beauty, "yummy" and the favorite of most summer residents. I grow both remontant and regular summer raspberries, and the agricultural technique of the remontant changes every year, despite the recommendations of old experienced gardeners.
Once, when in the fall I cut off all the shoots to the ground, the raspberries did not have time to ripen the next year: in mid-September a sharp cold snap set in, and we were left without berries. All of them went green under the snow, and now I leave 4-5 shoots in each bush, and in early spring I only shorten their tops at different heights. And in July we are already enjoying our favorite berries with might and main! Such raspberries grow several new shoots at the same time, which bear fruit in the fall. This year the autumn was so warm that we ate the berries until October 25!
I never dig up a raspberry! Never ever.
I'll make a reservation right away that it grows on my strip 80-90 cm wide between the fence and the lawn. By the way, I noticed long ago that a dense carpet of lawn grass does not allow raspberries to grow randomly, as is often the case on bare ground.
So, I mulch this whole strip ... what do you think? Anything else - it is mowed grass, and hay, and weeds, and fallen leaves, and chopped up plant remains. I have a layer of mulch of 12-15 centimeters, and as soon as it settles, I immediately add a new portion.
I adhere to the same agrotechnics for both summer and remontant raspberries. I water it often (of course, if it rains, I reduce watering), it is always wet under the mulch - raspberries are still a waterloaf. On wet ground, three times a season I fertilize with fermented grass with the addition of ash. In addition to the fact that under the mulch it is humid and the process of decay of all the above organic matter is constantly going on, there is always a lush loose earth, just stuffed with earthworms, which, as you know, are our best assistants. In late autumn and early spring, I treat raspberries with drugs for diseases and pests, preferably biological ones.
Unfortunately, I don't know all the varieties of raspberries that I grow, our beloved aunt Valentina Ivanovna Nikitina gave them to us.
RASPBERRY SPRING METHOD
In late autumn (late September - early October), I scatter superphosphate directly over the mulch and turn on the sprinklers for watering, and if the autumn is dry, I arrange long and frequent watering, so
raspberries leave well prepared in winter. I never bend it down for the winter! I put the mulch until the very frost, in the spring I take off the old mulch (it goes either into compost or into heaps for growing zucchini), and put a new one under the bushes.
And for this all season raspberries are grateful to our family with gorgeous harvests - enough for food, and for freezing, and for jam.
As for reproduction, I used to propagate with rhizomes, but now I have adapted to plant raspberries with "nettles" - young shoots just starting to grow from adult bushes. Quickly, conveniently, and most importantly, one hundred percent survival rate.
Well, it seems that he has not forgotten anything, perhaps someone will adopt a method of growing raspberries without unnecessary digging of row spacings.
And for the readers of the dacha, I have one question: did anyone grow Caramelka remontant raspberries? What are your impressions?
This concludes the letter, to a large group of summer residents - good seasons and excellent harvests!

TIBETAN RASPBERRY AND ARCTIC RASPBERRY - ON A NOTE
In addition to the usual varieties of raspberries, which are grown in abundance by summer residents, there are exotic varieties of it. Let's consider two of them.
Miao-miao
Despite the "cat" name, this Tibetan raspberry has long been used by people to promote health. Her berries are smallish, with sourness, the harvest is poor, but the bushes practically do not require maintenance. Although the Tibetan raspberry looks like strawberries, it is not a hybrid.
This species is often used for decorative purposes, but the fruits are still eaten: Tibetan raspberries have a strong healing effect.
Raspberry arctic
In the north, she is known as the "princess". Surprisingly, this native of the harsh lands generously endows with sweet burgundy berries with a pineapple flavor.
In the Middle Lane, the northern sister of raspberries prefers conditions close to nature: moist but drained soil, partial shade.
Drafts are contraindicated for her, but mulching the soil with moss will be beneficial. Arctic raspberries do not tolerate weeds.
