  1. Summerman, gardener and gardener (anonymous)

My husband and I had a house with a piece of land. Several apple trees, cherries and pears grew on the site. There was little land, but we used it rationally. They grew everything - from dill to currants. But Alexander died two years ago, and I decided to move to my son in the Leningrad region. The son bought a house with a plot of 25 acres.
It would seem that there is a lot of land, do what you want, but somewhere a plum grows, which does not bear fruit, somewhere a spruce or pine, which, among other trees, is cramped and dark. How to deal with these hundreds, I have no idea. Where is the best place to plant raspberries and other shrubs?
Dear summer residents, share the plans of your plots! Share experience and knowledge.
    Interested in the following questions:
    1. Why does the plum not bear fruit (grows near the fence, in the shade)? What and when should it be fed?
    2. How do you protect the cherry crop from birds? Strawberries also get almost all of the birds. I’m sorry, but sometimes there’s nothing left for grandchildren.
    3. Which trees and shrubs are friendly, and which ones should be planted further away?
    4. Share the names of fruit tree varieties for the northwestern regions.
And one more question. The son struggles unsuccessfully with weeds. Grass has already filled a third of the site, and Nikolai says that he will pour herbicides on everything. But it's dangerous! There are no safe herbicides, the wind blows - poison and scatter to the desired crops.

I would like to hear the opinion of experienced summer residents, because there is no desire to poison the land, crops and yourself.
