Sowing method of carrot seeds in starch jelly
STARCH KISEL FOR CARROTS OWN HANDS
Growing carrots, I tried all methods - and gluing seeds on toilet paper, and wrapping in candy, and panning, etc.
But the best was the method of sowing seeds in starch jelly. I germinate the seeds in a wet rag, putting it on a plate, which I put in a plastic bag and put on the battery. After five to six days (sometimes earlier), the seeds germinate, while the percentage of germination is immediately visible.
Depending on it, we make the required concentration of seeds in jelly.
It is necessary to germinate until roots of 0,5-1,0 mm in size appear: it is not necessary longer, otherwise they will break off.
Sprouted seeds are evenly distributed in the jelly, the sprouts do not break off. We make grooves about 5-6 cm wide, pressing on the loose soil with some wooden block so that all the seeds are at the same level, do not fall into the loose soil and sprout at the same time. The sown seeds germinate quickly (within five to seven days, depending on the weather).
It is convenient to pour jelly with seeds into the grooves from a teapot - a sinusoid along the entire width of the landing strip. I do this in order not to pull the carrots in the future and not spread the carrot smell, since I have a carrot fly (and onion fly too).
I fought with the carrot with everything I could.
And interspersed with the seeds of onions planted, and laid out citrus peels in the garden, and sprinkled tobacco dust, and watered with ammonia water ... In vain. Only tulle and kerosene helped. Immediately after sowing, I set up low arches and stretch the tulle. You can water through it without removing (unlike non-woven fabric). The fly does not get through, since my tulle is with a frequent base. It also protects against torrential rains, hail and neighboring cats.
As soon as a carpet of small annual weeds appears on the garden bed, I remove the tulle and spray the surface of the ground with undiluted kerosene from a spray bottle. Carrots are not afraid of kerosene, like dill, by the way. Then I pull on the tulle again, and the very next day all the excess vegetation lies, like mulch, with an even cover on the garden bed.
I also water through the tulle. I raise the arcs a little as the tops grow, then I take them off. The carrots have become clean, and they do not bake in the sun.
