IT'S EASIER TO GET RID OF PESTS AND WEEDS IN AUTUMN
Wheatgrass, sow-thistle, runny, horse sorrel are a real nightmare for gardeners. You will hardly notice the weed, you will not have time to pull it out in time - and already in the next season all the beds are strewn with invaders. What to do if especially malicious plants have settled on the site? Fight! And you need to start in the fall, as soon as the crop is harvested.
WIRE FROM THE WIRE
I could not cope with the wireworm in any way. Every year I was upset that the potatoes were damaged. Subtracted that one of the most successful ways to deal with the scourge is to improve the composition of the soil with green manure. Immediately after harvesting the potatoes, I sowed a mixture of radish with rapeseed (1: 1) for subsequent plowing. The ground has improved, but the wireworm has not gone away. And the next fall, a neighbor advised to sow the site with rape in September. And so he did. Before the snow fell, she ascended, in the spring it quickly began to grow, bloomed, bees swarmed over her in a swarm. In mid-May, he plowed all the green mass and planted potatoes. Imagine my surprise when in autumn I almost did not find tubers damaged by the wireworm! Now every autumn I sow the garden with rape - and I don’t remember the wireworm. Dmitry KHARCHEVKIN, Bryansk
So that the roots of perennial weeds, especially nettles, do not penetrate from neighbors into my garden, in the fall, along the fence along the border of the site, I dug a small trench to the depth of a shovel bayonet and put pieces of slate in it so that their upper edge protruded above the soil level by at least 20 cm.

WORD TO THE SPECIALIST
Siderata, indeed, can scare away the wireworm. However, not all plants are suitable for this. For example, the pest likes rye, oats and wheat. It feeds on the roots of cereals and grows more actively. But rape, white and yellow mustard, on the contrary, help to drive the wireworm from the site. These green manures work great in combination with lupine or peas.
Another important point: it is important to mow both the rape and mustard and embed it in the soil before the flowers appear. Otherwise, self-seeding may occur, and green manure will begin to grow on the site like weeds.

SPRAYING WITH Glyphosphate in autumn against weeds
After I removed the last fruits and removed the tops, I do not touch the weeds, I wait until they grow up to 10 cm in height. I spread, according to the instructions, any herbicide that affects the aerial part of the plants (Roundup, Pylaround, Tornado, Glyalka, Glyphosate, Flurry, Glyphos, Glysol, Glyph, Zero, Ground, Gliper, Hurricane, Utal, Whirlwind). And I spray abundantly all the vegetation in the beds. Before processing, I do not dig up the soil so that the herbicide that has fallen on the leaves penetrates inside and is distributed throughout the underground part of the plants. If you damage the rhizomes with a shovel or plow, the effect of the herbicide will be much worse.
I carry out herbicide treatments only in dry, calm weather, in extreme cases - no later than 2 hours before the rain.
I also take into account the average daily air temperature. If it fluctuates within +10 degrees, and below, the drug acts slowly or stops working altogether. Therefore, I spray no later than September (at a temperature of + 10 degrees). After waiting for the complete death of the rhizomes (they acquire a brown color), I apply the necessary fertilizers and dig up the area, picking out the remnants of weed roots.
After digging, I sow the plot with winter vetch or rye. In the spring, I give the green manure to grow 15-20 cm, mow and embed it in the soil, after adding mineral or organic fertilizers. Then I grow the planned vegetables. However, I am far from hiding herbicides. I systematically process the grass along the fence and on the paths with them. But, of course, I make sure that the drugs do not fall on cultivated plants.

Do not try to eradicate juvenile weeds (wood lice, American, quinoa, chamomile, beetle, pickle) using the described method. They reproduce primarily by seeds, the supply of which in the soil is sufficient for many years to come. By using Roundup against them, you will receive a one-time effect, and next year weeds will spawn from seeds again. Therefore, it is more rational to use herbicides against perennial weeds that resume their growth from rhizomes. Pull out young weeds by hand and put them in compost.
