Caring for late vegetables in the fall - tips from gardeners

RELEVANT: LATE VEGETABLE CARE
Many vegetables are still growing in September.
And in a couple of weeks they are able to gain weight and taste.
For perennials, September is also an important month: some have a haircut, while others will not interfere with feeding.
STRONG STUFF
That heads of white cabbage of late varieties grew large and dense, in the first half of September I continue to loosen the aisles and periodically spud the plants.
If the weather is dry for 3-5 days, water the cabbage (5-8 liters per plant).
From pests in September, I spray it with a solution three times with a weekly interval (I dilute a liter jar of sifted wood ash and 10 g of salt and grated laundry soap in 50 liters of hot water, mix, give time to cool, filter).
For better filling of heads of cabbage in the first ten days of the month, I feed it with mullein infusion (1:10), and after 10 days - with a solution of potassium sulfate (2 tablespoons per 10 liters of water).

CAULIFLOWER IS STILL GROWING AND GROWING!
Before the onset of frost, I transplant cauliflower with heads with a diameter of 2-3 cm into boxes (pots) for growing. I put it in a basement or a greenhouse, I cover it with earth to the level of the lower leaves (I periodically remove the dead ones). At a temperature of + 13 degrees, I harvest in about 20 days, at +5 degrees. - after 50 days.

CRACK FEEDING
To make late cabbage (varieties Amager, Kolobok, Stone Head) juicy, tasty and crispy, in the first half of September I dilute 10 tablespoons of water in 2 liters of water. superphosphate and 1 tbsp. nitrophosphate. I water at the rate of 1 liter per plant. I repeat after 10 days. I pour ash from the slugs to the roots.

THE EARLY BOW
Before the onset of stable frosts, I dig the onion with a clod of earth. I keep it in a barn, covering it with a film so that it does not dry out. In early March, I plant it in a greenhouse. I get greens 2-3 weeks earlier than from onions. I cut off young leaves at the soil level 2-3 times in the spring.

PEPPERS ON THE FINISH STRAIGHT
Since September, I gradually cut off old leaves on the bushes of peppers, fertile branches, as well as excess ovaries.
When it gets noticeably colder outside, I put two-liter PET bottles with hot water in the greenhouse next to the peppers in the morning and in the evening: they give the plants warmth.
If you notice that the peppers have turned yellow from the cold, I feed them with a urea solution (1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water).
For the fastest ripening of the fruits, once a week I water the peppers with an infusion of ash {1 tbsp. for 10 liters of hot water; withstand a day).
TIP: I do differently with hot pepper: I dig out bushes with a clod of earth and transplant them into clay or ceramic pots. I grow it until next season in an apartment.

BEANS IN THE NORTH: AUTUMN TIPS
In the northern regions, beans begin to ripen late - in August-September. I usually shoot pods selectively. I take the full ones, which have not yet dried, and lay them out under a canopy for ripening. After that, those remaining on the bushes grow faster, because all the food now goes only to them. I completely clean the plants before the frosts. But if I overlooked a short night frost, I'm not afraid. Lowering the temperature to 0 ... -1 degrees, the beans can withstand, only the upper leaves freeze a little, but this is not scary.
If severe frosts are predicted, I pull out the bushes entirely and hang them under a canopy until the pods dry out (there they are not afraid of a drop in temperature even to -5 degrees). Then I collect them in boxes and put them in the warmth.
Turn the pods periodically to dry well, then shell the beans. I keep it in glass jars under nylon lids (in the kitchen, in the closet) or in cloth bags on the balcony.
