Reviews of the summer resident about popular remedies against moles
HOW TO GET RID OF MOLE - WHAT MEANS I TESTED
MOUTH OF THE OWNER OF THE SITE!
Our dacha cooperative got plots not on the most fertile lands: mainly we have sand, and even the area itself is swampy in places. And here has developed its own special environmentally sustainable system, in which animals, birds, insects and plants have lived for centuries.
Will you say that, in fact, is it everywhere? Exactly! It's just that we, summer residents, for some reason do not pay attention to it. But when even only one link in a biocenosis that has existed for a long time dies, the ecological situation will inevitably change for the worse. Every animal and bug, every butterfly and frog, grass and flower make up a single whole.
We, people, still need to learn and learn how to integrate painlessly into such a system. For example, birds that feed on insects and rodents are of great benefit to humans. Let's say an ordinary titmouse eats as many insects per day as it weighs itself. And as you read the letters, almost every gardener is only busy with how to drive the birds from his hacienda. Or let's take moles. In general, war has been declared on them in horticulture! But they are also useful: they feed not only on pest larvae, but even on mice.
I know far from isolated cases when the owners of the plots, with the help of various devices and poisonous baits, were able to destroy all the moles and, as a result, were left without a crop of root crops and bulbs, which became excellent food for mice and a bear.
Yes, yes, moles do not feed on the "products" growing in the beds, so many summer residents should not blame them for this. It may be objected that these underground inhabitants, on the other hand, destroy earthworms. I agree, this is a fact. Earthworms are a favorite treat for moles. But, firstly, the loss of worms in the area from the "culinary addictions" of moles is literally scanty on the scale of the site, and secondly, the active activity of moles leads to mixing of the soil material, which contributes to the faster formation and maintenance of the humus layer. Farther south about, this leads to the enrichment of the invertebrate fauna, and also develops connections in the ecosystem.

DO MOLE LOVE MUSIC?
To be fair, I admit that I myself did not immediately change my view of moles. Like many summer residents, I also tried to drive them away, as I understand now, from their original "native" territory. I tried a lot of things - except maybe I didn’t poison with chemistry. Once I came across a note from a Kharkov "Kulibin" who claimed that the moles had completely left his site and had not returned for five years. And he drove them out with the help of two small speakers, placed in five-liter plastic bottles and buried at a distance of 10 m from each other at a depth of 25 cm. It is clear that these speakers were connected by wires to the receiver. All that remained was to find good music and turn it on at full volume.
I really liked the idea. I went to the radio market for the speakers, pulled out an old radio from the barn, assembled the speaker system and turned it on. And within two months grace came. And then And then moles began to gather in my garden from all over the area and arrange a "disco" around the buried speakers. I don't know what caused this. But it was this case that made me understand that in fact it was not moles who came to our site, but we came to them. And then the irritation disappeared at once. I began to observe more attentively how different species of animals live in nature on the same territory and how they "agree" with each other. And she found out the basic rule: to avoid unnecessary conflicts, animals mark their territory.
If this is so, then it means that I need to do the same: in order to claim part of the territory of moles, it is necessary to perform certain actions that are understandable to them.
For example, on beds with tender vegetables I put marks, stating that this place is occupied. I make the marks as follows: I make holes with a depth of 3-4 cm at a distance of 30-40 cm from each other with a peg with a diameter of 20-25 cm, I push rags soaked in a tar-oil mixture into them (3 parts of tar per 1 part of vegetable oil) and I fall asleep with earth. Not only moles leave these "marked" beds, but also wireworms, May beetles and beetles. And the labels themselves "work" for about a month and a half, after which I change the contents of the wells. If worm passages appear on the lawn, then I return the earth pushed out of them with a stream of water. Those. I don't put any marks - this is no longer my territory. Therefore, when the grandson was small and noticed a new molehill, he immediately ran to me and said loudly: "Granny, go talk to the mole!"
Note that birch tar made on the basis of wood resin is an ancient remedy that is widely used in cosmetology and medicine. It has a strong and persistent aroma, disinfecting and insecticidal effect. Therefore, there will be no harm from it: tar is not poisonous for people, and it repels most pests, rather than kills. And in plants it does not accumulate in large quantities.
However, there are some inconveniences and disadvantages when using it in horticulture and horticulture. For example, not only the mole does not like its pungent smell, but also neighbors and relatives. In addition, tar acts as a repellent on harmful and beneficial insects, so if you apply it throughout the entire area and often, you can lose little helpers.
And tar cannot be used on fruits and on edible green mass, as their taste and smell deteriorate. Therefore, I apply tar on the site strictly locally and as needed. But at the same time, she learned to live in the same territory with the moles.

There are humane ways! We dig up a fresh molehill, put a glass bottle of wine (with a long neck) there and bury it so that the neck remains on the surface. Even with a slight breeze, the air begins to buzz in the bottle, creating a noise effect underground. Moles are afraid of noise and leave the site forever. By the way, you can bury bottles not only in mole passages, but also around the perimeter of the entire site. That's it - and everyone is happy.
