BLACK CURRANT DOES NOT GIVE A HARVEST - WHAT IS THE REASON?

When planting black currants on the site, which, by the way, is not too late to do in early November, each of us, of course, expects to receive solid yields of tasty and healthy berries annually.
FERTILIZERS FOR BLACK CURRANT
When planting currants on a site in the fall, it is necessary to add humus or compost for a couple of kilograms to the planting hole, as well as a teaspoon of superphosphate and potassium sulfate, and in the spring - for the same amount of nitroammophoska.
In addition, when planting in the spring, you can add manure, but you should not overdo it, since with an excess of nitrogen fertilization, currants will form only large and thick growths and massive leaves, that is, they will begin to fatten to the detriment of the fruits.
The next reason is an acute moisture deficit. In dry years or in hot southern regions, currants often save themselves - they have no time for the harvest, they would have to survive on their own. And here you cannot do without frequent watering.
In conditions of a moisture deficit above the currants, you can stretch the shading network and irrigate daily, including sprinkling. But you should not, trying to save the currants from the heat, plant them in a thick shade, so it will not bear fruit well, if at all. But, of course, in this way you will save on irrigation and on the shading grid.
Always provide the currants with moisture, especially during the period of active growth of shoots and ovaries. A bucket every three days is a mandatory minimum, and preferably every other day.
UNSUITABLE PRIMER FOR BLACK CURRANT
On acidic soil, currants cannot normally absorb fertilizers, an acute nutritional deficiency occurs. Just as with a moisture deficit, currants, saving themselves, sacrifice berries: they either do not tie at all, or simply fall off.
If the soils are very acidic, then it is necessary to carry out liming, well, or add wood ash, making grooves at a distance of 30 cm from the center of the bush and filling them with wood ash.
SELECTING A VARIETY OF BLACK CURRANT
Always choose varieties that are exclusively regionalized in your region. Southern varieties planted in a cold region, or vice versa, will most likely produce a small crop, or may not produce it at all, suffering from drought or freezing in winter.
Always plant several varieties on the site that bloom at the same time, they will be pollinated, and, thus, you will collect a large harvest of berries.
CURING BLACK CURRANT
Carry out sanitary pruning in time, do not hesitate to prune anti-aging. So, rejuvenating pruning is a must for bushes over ten years old. Try to remove the thickest, fattening shoots, they only pull food on themselves, but there is no sense from them.
Bushes older than two decades need to be replaced without pity with new ones - alas, even rejuvenating pruning will not help their normal fruiting.
Always follow the rule of the predecessor: for example, if currants have been growing in this place for more than ten years, then you can plant it again in this place no earlier than three years later.
