HOW TO GET RID OF BLACK CURRANT ANTHRACNOSIS WITH FOLK MEANS
It happens that berry seedlings have to be planted due to lack of space in some "settlements". And this sometimes turns out to be even better.
I love black currant and appreciate its medicinal qualities. But here's the trouble: in our south, it burns badly in the summer from the sun - and then the berries crumble, and the leaves dry up and fall off. And the most unpleasant thing is that weakened plants are easily affected by such a dangerous disease as anthracnose. For the time being, this ailment bypassed my bushes, but one day the inevitable happened.
I tried to spray diseased plants with different preparations, but there was little sense. I had to uproot almost the entire plantation. Instead of black currant, I planted golden seedlings, which are not affected by pests and diseases and give a good harvest of tasty, large berries. But two black bushes - varieties Selechenskaya-2 and Perun - were still preserved in my garden: they grew far from the main plantation, and in the midday time they were saved from the hot sun by the shade from the buildings.
I began to actively process this couple with folk remedies. For example, in early spring, before bud break, I pour the onion peel decoction over the bushes. I prepare it like this: after pouring a liter can of husk into a ten-liter iron bucket, put it on the fire, bring it to a boil, filter it, pour it into a watering can and, without allowing the broth to cool, pour over the bushes and the soil under them. And I managed to defend these bushes from anthracnose.
And to prevent powdery mildew, before flowering, I spray black currants with a solution of soda ash, to which I add laundry soap (50 g per 10 liters of water). A week later, this treatment is carried out again.
As a top dressing, I spread potato peelings mixed with ash under the bushes, followed by their embedding in the soil. And necessarily (especially in hot weather) I water the currant bushes abundantly.

TIP: BLACK CURRANT SHUTCHES
Every year, watching how the neighbors, pruning currants in the fall, throw out the branches, my heart bleeds - so much planting material disappears! After all, from these shoots and twigs, you can cut cuttings and plant them! Moreover, this breeding method is the cheapest and most effective.
I harvest cuttings 20-30 cm long. Their diameter should be about 6-8 mm, because thin ones give weak seedlings, and thick ones take root less well. When cutting cuttings, I carefully examine the shoots and especially the buds: too large can contain colonies of kidney mites - dangerous pests. And I plant the cuttings in a special school, which is a V-shaped trench 20 cm deep, deepening them 15 cm so that only two buds remain on top. You can even plant the cuttings in pots on the windowsill.
In general, a little attention and watering - and by the spring you will get excellent rooted seedlings, which can be immediately attached to a permanent place.
