SPICY PEPPER IN MOSCOW REGION - LANDING AND CARE
I have never grown hot peppers, considering it akin to exotic in our latitudes. But the readers' letters "seduced" me, and I took a chance at last. I chose three varieties that are not similar to each other: Russian size (large-fruited and not very spicy in taste), Miracle of the Moscow Region (medium-fruited) and Astrakhansky-147 (the smallest of the whole trinity and the sharpest in taste).
The seeds were sown in mid-February in the purchased soil, on top of which they poured snow. Seedlings began to appear on the 27th. The best germination was found in the Miracle of the Moscow Region and Astrakhan-147. But the Russian size rose reluctantly and unevenly. But then the agility of these sprouts amazed me - they overtook all their relatives!
At the same time, as it turned out later, the seedlings of Astrakhan-147 generally began to slow down - some plants remained thin and grew poorly. I considered this a feature of the variety.
In March, I spread the seedlings into cups. Top dressing was carried out regularly. I planted seedlings in a greenhouse on May 4 (the weather favored this): I placed two plants in the holes filled with humus and then added a little superphosphate. All the "seedlings" have taken root, even the skinny ones.
As they grew, I poured humus under them where the roots were bare. By the end of May, the peppers had already bloomed and began to give ovaries. And since it was hot outside at 30 °, the plantings had to be additionally watered and shaded from the sun.
In June, she fed the peppers with an infusion of chicken manure diluted with water. Until the end of June there was no rain, but then until mid-August there were prolonged showers at low temperatures.
But even in spite of such weather, the peppers did not hurt and gave a wonderful harvest! Moreover, the first to bear fruit was the Miracle of the Moscow Region and the Russian size, the Astrakhan-! 47 pleased with its gifts closer to autumn - but from the heart!
I was afraid that not all the fruits would have time to ripen, but no - everyone blushed, in vain I was afraid. She cut off the last fruits at the end of September, and the bushes were still green. I dried these "autumn" peppers, and then ground them in winter and used them as a seasoning. Successful experiment!
And now about the greenhouse itself. Its frame is made of wooden beams and boards, and covered with a packing stretch film. It is very convenient to work with her! I put it in two or three layers and fix it with a construction stapler on plastic tape.
