X2 COLUMN APPLE TREE FOR GARDEN AND COTTAGE

I want to tell you about my favorite columnar apple tree X-2. Moreover, there are few letters about such trees. As soon as I found out that columnar apple trees appeared, I immediately wanted to plant one at home, and the opportunity to realize this idea soon presented itself.

I stayed with my sister Svetlana 13 years ago, and according to the established tradition, the next day after our arrival, we went with her to the market to see the novelties for the garden. We walk, we walk, and suddenly I froze at the counter: there is a seedling of the columnar apple tree X-2 in the container. I immediately bought it, then brought it home and planted it. My sister was constantly interested in how my apple tree was doing, and then I brought her fruits for testing. I have never regretted planting this miracle!

Having studied all the available information about this species, I took note of something, began to do something in my own way. I do not prune side shoots. The picture shows that our apple tree does not grow in one trunk, as recommended, but in several. I see only pluses in this: our harvest is much richer (photo 1).

In such apple trees, the root system is not deep, so they must be tied (photo 2).

Once she almost fell, it's good that I was nearby. I treat diseases and pests in the same way as other fruit trees, but I need to feed and water it more often. Apples ripen in autumn, beautiful and very tasty!

In general, such a tree has solid advantages: it takes up little space, the sea has fruits on the branches, and is unpretentious in care. We even make juice from these apples - what a sweet miracle! Can't compare to the store!

Moscow necklace - this is now the name of the X-2 variety, bred by the breeder M.V. Kachalkin based on Canadian and American varieties, in particular Macintosh. The peak of the harvest falls on the 4-6th year of the tree's life and is at least 10 kg. The fruits are unusually tasty and fragrant - the Necklace is considered a dessert variety. Frost tolerates up to -45 °.
