Quick growing sweet potato in the second year of planting (seedlings)

GROWING SWEET POTATOES DIRECTLY FROM A BUCKET
It has long been proven that sweet potato is much healthier than potatoes. So, maybe it's time to start growing it on the site? This is not much more difficult, although it requires patience, but the result will justify any effort. After all, it is about health.
I want to share an unconventional way to grow sweet potatoes for the second year of planting. Sweet potato is a perennial liana that grows in warm countries, but in our latitudes, many grow it at home.
In the first year, you will have to grow as usual. I place the sweet potato tuber in a jar of water, deepening only halfway. A month later, shoots appear. When they reach a length of 7 cm, I tear them off and put them in another container, with a root stimulator diluted in water. From one sweet potato tuber, I received ten copies of planting material.
Important: since growing sweet potatoes is a slow process, germination should begin no later than February, otherwise the tubers will not have time to grow.
In April, the cuttings with roots were planted in pots (photo 1), at the end of May they were transplanted into open ground. I tied each bush to a long peg so that the lashes did not come into contact with the ground. If this is not done, the vine will begin to weave and take root, and you will not see a harvest: all you get is a field of beautiful leaves.
In the second half of October, I dug up a crop: what is in photo 2 is from one bush. It's time to prepare the seedlings for next year's planting. Now, in order to bypass all the stages of sweet potato germination, after digging up the tubers, I leave the roots for storage in a bucket (photo 3).
I completely fill them with sand, only the columns of the liana remain on the surface (photo 4), I water them and clean them in the cellar until spring.
In April, I take it out and put it on the window, water it with fertilizer. Sweet potato roots are starting to sprout. In May, I divide into separate roots and plant them in the ground. I received 11 seedlings from two buckets.
What do we end up with? In the first year, growing sweet potato seedlings is a somewhat time-consuming task, but in the second year we no longer bother with it for so long, and the harvest is no less rich. I recommend!
Sweet Potato - PLANTING AND CARE, ADVICE AND FEEDBACK OF GARDENERS
Sweet Potato: NOTHING COMPLICATED
Everything has been said about the benefits of this plant for a long time, it is not worth repeating. Those who care about their health have long made friends with this glorious culture. Therefore, we will focus only on the intricacies of agricultural technology.
I am writing for the first time, although I have subscribed to the magazine since 2010. I read from cover to cover and re-read, I take note of a lot, but I decided to write about sweet potato, because little is written about it.
My daughter bought me five tubers of sweet potato in February at the market, I planted them in flower pots so that only half of the tuber was in the ground. Sprayed every day. I put the pots on the floor in a dark place, but I had to immediately on the window, on the sunny side. As a result, the sweet potato did not show any signs of life for a long time, and already on the window, somewhere in the middle of March, sprouts began to appear.
When they reached 15 cm, my daughter began to break them out, and I planted them in the garden. And again, it was necessary to transplant them into cups, because it was still cold, I had to cover them with cut-off bottles. It was in April - I did not think that I would write, so I did not remember the exact date. And the sprouts on the sweet potato grew again, and we broke them out and planted them until July.
Somewhere in mid-July, the last sprouts were planted along with the tubers, but in general this should not be done, because the tubers simply lay in the ground before harvesting.
Sweet potato care is simple: watering and shallow loosening until it has grown. And one more thing: during loosening, it is necessary to rake the earth under the root, so that in the fall it was clear where to dig. And then we cut a lot of tubers. And, probably, you need to dig with a pitchfork.
We dug one row and weighed: the harvest from 10 bushes is 55 kg. My son-in-law was digging, because the sweet potato diverges to the sides from the main planting, and there is a lot of digging.
In total, 7 rows of 10-12 holes were planted. The distance between the bushes is at least 50 cm, between the rows - more than a meter. It is impossible to store sweet potatoes in the cellar, where it quickly rots. We keep it in the kitchen in plastic boxes.

I want to grow sweet potatoes. Is it possible to plant those tubers that are sold in the supermarket? How to properly prepare them for landing?

- If you are sure of the quality of these tubers, then they can be used to obtain cuttings, which are planted to get a crop. Often, the tubers from the store behave unpredictably, their growth is weakened, the cuttings are sluggish, and there are few of them, since the tubers are treated with growth inhibitors.
You can start sprouting your sweet potato tubers in March, but it is better to start sprouting those from the store in February.
Before sprouting, be sure to soak the tubers in a fungicide or biofungicide solution (for example, Fitosporin-M is excellent). Dip half of the tuber cut side down into a container of water. Make sure that the liquid covers the tuber by only a couple of centimeters. Change the water once a day. After about a month, the cuttings can be separated and planted in the soil.
