Varieties of apple trees for Tatarstan - my reviews
APPLE TREE BASHKIR BEAUTIFUL, MELBA AND WONDERFUL - MY REVIEWS
I want to talk about my apple trees. We have three of them. The largest and oldest tree is the Bashkir handsome man. He is probably forty years old, inherited from the former owners. The variety is good, frost-resistant.
This apple tree is unusually fruitful and bears fruit every year. The fruits begin to ripen in mid-August, and we collect them until the end of September.
Apples are very juicy, sweet and sour, they can be stored for a long time in a cool room. The fruits are white with bright red stripes. Apples are all even, as if for selection, weighing 100-140 g.
The harvest is simply huge - we collect bags! We make jam, make juices and marshmallows. We collect and bury the carrion. In 2020, I saw a program on TV where carrion was buried under currant bushes, and I also did this in the fall. The following year, currants produced an unprecedented harvest of large, sweet berries! Since then, I always bury a carrion of apples under currant bushes.
And we also have a dwarf apple tree of the Chudnoye variety. A small, bizarre branch hanging to the ground can surprise with a chic harvest of green, slightly “tanned” apples. Rounded, slightly ribbed fruits hold well and for a long time on the branches. Apples are juicy, crispy, sweet with a slight sourness.
Fruits Wonderful every year. The variety is frost-resistant, up to 2 m high. Supports for branches are definitely needed. And since the tree has a shallow root system, it requires constant watering. In general, a very good unpretentious variety.
Another young apple tree grows on our dwarf stock - Melba. In the first winter after planting, the poor baby was very badly gnawed by hares. It is good that a piece of the stem with the graft remained, and from this stem branches grew in the shape of a bowl, without a central conductor. This small tree looks simply gorgeous, and in a snowy winter it almost completely goes under the snow.
This year we tried the first four apples. How delicious they are, juicy, sweet, with a slight pleasant sourness! Melba gives a harvest in August. We have high hopes for her.
I mulch all fruit trees in my garden with humus, regularly water and feed. I always apply nitrogen fertilizers in spring, potash and phosphorus fertilizers in summer and autumn. In dry, hot weather, I definitely water and in the fall I spend winter watering.
In addition, in the spring I process all the trees in the garden from pests.

In 2015, I planted in a garden plot in the Vladimir region several apple trees from a local nursery - Cinnamon striped, Moscow pear, Medunitsa, columnar Iksha - and a Vernaya pear. All are two year olds. I planted in the spring, and all have taken root well.
Six years have passed. Our seedlings delight the eye every year, successfully surviving the winter, the trunks are gaining strength, but they do not grow in height and do not bloom. Planted, as summer residents told me. What happens to our trees?
