Pick flowers from strawberries or not - my feedback after the experiment
WHY PICK STRAWBERRY FLOWERS AND IS IT NEEDED TO DO IT AT ALL?
I can’t write a preface - I immediately take the bull by the horns. And now I can’t wait to express my thoughts about strawberries, which greatly surprised and puzzled me.
On advice, I left the bush for reproduction, put on a mustache, cutting off all the flowers, and the strawberries served me faithfully, supplying both me and my friends with mustaches for about three or four years. When the mustache was no longer needed, I left it for fruiting: it was a pity for the old woman. And the old woman suddenly overgrown with so many berries, which I have never seen on other bushes in my life!
The conclusion suggests itself: for a large harvest, strawberries need periodic rest from fruiting. Okay, but what is the most acceptable mode? The answer depends on us, there are many options, so you have to experiment. Surely each of us has more than one bed of strawberries in the garden: you can blind half of them, leaving the second part for fruiting, so as not to deny yourself a delicious berry. You can blind both in the second and in the third year, or you can alternate the blinding of the halves of the beds. What and when to cut off - only flowers or both flowers and a mustache - choose to your taste. There is something to think about and where to roam indifferent inquisitive summer residents, so that later they can share their experience with us.
Reading, observing and analyzing, I deduced for myself the first postulate: in the first year after planting, all flowers must be cut off.
I have a feeling that we are on the verge of discovering new, hitherto unknown properties of strawberries. Perhaps there will be no need to transplant it every three years and it will become perennial. Maybe all her agricultural technology will change, turning everything upside down, as happened, for example, with planting potatoes “upside down”.

JOINT PLANTING OF GARLIC AND STRAWBERRY
There is another topic that I want to bring up. All gardeners like to plant garlic in rows of strawberries, believing that this is good. And for whom - for garlic or strawberries? Try to convince me.
Yes, in the first year of planting, until the strawberries have grown, you can use this technique, economically using the area. What next? When harvesting, you can’t take garlic with your bare hands, you need to dig it up, which means injuring the roots of strawberries. Does she need it? No. An extra freeloader in the struggle for nutrients is also useless to her.
I would rather plant onions for forcing greens, and shallots are perfect for this role. It is easy and painless for strawberries to pull in the first half of summer.
The best option for bushes is to mulch the aisles after loosening and leave them alone.
My nephew, having heard a lot of arguments about planting potatoes "upside down", was delighted and found many advantages of this method. Firstly, the tops of potatoes will remain in the ground after harvesting and, rotting, will improve fertility. Secondly, there is no need to collect beetles: there is no tops, which means there are none. And most importantly - there is no need to dig potatoes anymore, they are all upstairs, on the ground. Take a bucket and collect it for your joy.
Good health and good harvests to all!
