Tomatoes on narrow beds according to Mitlider - my reviews
GROWING TOMATOES IN THE NARROW BEDS OF THE MITTLIDER
“The strange beds of Mitlider” was the name of a selection of letters in one of the previous articles. As always, readers responded with new stories about their experience with this method, which certainly deserves the most serious discussion. Here is a fairly convincing, and most importantly, concrete letter.
The Mitlider method interested me ten years ago, since I have a plot of 4 acres, but I want to plant everything. So, I just save myself with his advice, they are especially useful for tall tomatoes. My beds are 8 m long, 7-45 cm wide, I never measured the passages, I just make them so that I can walk freely and take care of the plants.
At first I planted tomatoes in one row and then, in order to save the supports on which I tie the fruits, I began to do this: I dig out trenches to the width of a shovel and to a depth of half a shovel, a row of 7 m and after 10 cm the second such row, then the width of the passage is 75 -80 cm. I put manure or compost into the dug-out bed - 3-4 buckets, half a half-liter jar of complex fertilizer and sprinkle with ash. And immediately I pour poison from the bear - not very much.
I mix everything well with a hoe and water it so that the soil is saturated. You can plant at any time, even in a day, even in a week, since I prepare all the beds in advance. The land that I choose, I rake with a rake and make new beds. I plant tomatoes in rows at a distance of 17-20 cm.
At first, the seedlings turn out, as it were, in a hole, and what is interesting - the bear almost does not spoil it, even if I forget to sprinkle poison! And before I could not get rid of it, every day I planted 10-15 bushes, so out of 300 bushes 5-10 she always ate. And it’s also convenient that in case of frost you can cover it with a film, slightly tilting the seedlings.
When the tomatoes grow up, they need to be spudded. Here I am this middle (10 cm) and rake under the tomatoes with a hoe. It’s convenient for me to poke on the sides with a shovel, so it turns out a depression on the sides and in the middle, it’s very convenient to water.
In the middle I put 4 pegs up to 2 m high, pull the nylon rope in 3, and sometimes 4 rows, and tie up the tomatoes - it turns out evenly on both sides, and when the tomatoes ripen, the rope does not lean in one direction, but maintains balance.
I fertilize 3 times when the seedlings begin to bloom: chicken manure - 0 l, 5 tablespoon of urea, 1 l of diluted potassium permanganate, 0 break of potash fertilizer and, if there is ash, I add 5 liter of infused ash. We must not forget about boric acid: 1 tsp. on a bucket.
When the fruits grow well, I water with superphosphate, sprinkle ground into holes on the sides and in the middle. Then I water.

WATERING TOMATOES IN NARROW BEDS
Speaking of watering. Previously, they wrote everywhere that tomatoes should be watered less, and I tried not to water the aisles between the rows so that there was less moisture - I thought they would not get sick. But it turned out that the color on the tomatoes crumbled all over, the leaves below twisted from the heat. The following year, I corrected my mistake.
Now I water the tomatoes in the holes and passages so that there is a wet evaporation, 2-3 times a week when it's hot, and so - if necessary.
And what Igor Vostryakov writes about fertilizers, I never overdo it, and believe me that with such a density of planting, I am always with a harvest. Even when we had a big hail, due to the density of the leaves, more than half of the crop was preserved, unlike my neighbors. The main thing is that it is not necessary to adhere to this method to the subtleties - the norms of fertilizer, for example, and try to use more infusions of chicken manure and manure. I tired you, for sure, with my letter, but I made mistakes, so excuse me. I am 74 years old, but I can’t live without a dacha, movement is my life. Next time I will write about raspberries. Be healthy!
