GARDEN AND GARDEN WITH YOUR HANDS - TIPS AND LIFE HACKS
We have several gardeners and the winter period for us is a kind of vacation. In the spring - germination of seedlings and planting, in the summer - weeding and watering, in the fall - harvesting, and in winter it's time to meet more often, talk on exciting topics, exchange experiences.
ABOUT LUKA SEVKA
I'll start with how we plant onion sets before winter so that excellent juicy feathers grow in spring. The bed is prepared in advance, while the earth is still loose and has not had time to cake. The grooves are made very close to each other, because the onion is planted to the onion. A supply of earth is also made in buckets, which are placed in a warm place.
When slight frosts come, we dig shallow holes, put dry seedlings in them and cover them with a 5-7 cm layer of earth - the same, pre-prepared, good, crumbly. And when all this is done, we walk with goose steps along the plantings to compact the soil. Sevok then winters well and gives an excellent harvest in early spring.
It's easier with onions. It is good to plant it where mustard used to grow. Additionally, only a small amount of ash and azofoska is added.
Planting material is pre-soaked in a warm solution of baking soda, so we never have a single onion arrow in the beds!
The ground after planting should always remain moist. The bulbs grow large, there is no rot, only the crop must be harvested on time.
Anna Afanasievna Savelyeva grows beautiful shallots. In winter, it is simply indispensable, because it is perfectly stored at home. Shallot is characterized by precocity: after 25-30 days it is already suitable for cutting.
On the prepared bed, Anna Afanasievna makes grooves 2-3 cm deep across the ridge every 30-40 cm. He brings them into wood ash - a handful in a row (onions love ash). The bulbs are pre-soaked for 6-8 hours in potassium permanganate. The beds planted with onions spud like potatoes.
Harvesting of shallots should be carried out in a timely manner, with lodging of leaves in about half of the plants, on a dry sunny day.

ABOUT PHYTOPHTHORA
Maria Ivanovna Pushkareva has her own method of dealing with late blight. We take a half-liter jar and fill it tightly with ash. Then we pour it into a three-liter jar and pour it with boiling water, close the lid, wrap it with a blanket (or other material) and put it in a warm place. We insist 10-11 hours, then we filter the infusion through a cloth into a 10-liter bucket and add water to the top. We spray tomatoes, cucumbers, shrubs with this solution, you can even water them. And no longer afraid of aphids or phytophthora. We have been using this recipe for four years now.
By the way, at the beginning of the ripening of tomato fruits, we advise you to water the plants with this solution: 1 cup of wood ash, 1 tbsp. l. table salt per 10 liters of water. This greatly improves the taste of tomatoes, they become more tender and sugary.
ABOUT CHARD
One day I visited friends and for the first time I saw chard. I thought it was just some decorative leaves to decorate the site. And it turned out, beetroot. And not just delicious, but very useful!
We sow chard at different times, you can start in October. It brings a double benefit: a good vegetable and garden decoration. Chard has many varieties that have different colors.
Remember: the more often you cut the leaves, the more abundantly they will grow.
ABOUT AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY
We, gardeners, are often let down by one big mistake - the lack of crop rotation. Even in a small area, crop rotation must be observed. This will protect vegetables from pests and especially from diseases better than any "folk remedies" and chemistry.
And we get rid of the wireworm with the help of kelp algae - sea kale, which we collect along the shores of Setuan Bay. We have a lot of it!
These are the recommendations we send you and we will be very happy if our note is published.
