The use of medical caps in the garden - my advice
HOW TO USE MEDICAL CAP FOR PLANTS
In recent years, the topic of combating numerous garden pests has become one of the most relevant. It seems that we grow crops to support the population of various insects. Therefore, it is necessary to use well-known means of dealing with them, and to invent new ones.
Last year, my neighbor Tanya gave me a big pack of disposable hats. I thought, I thought, how to adapt them in the garden? I grow Beijing cabbage in five-liter buckets on racks. I decided to put caps on these buckets to protect against the cruciferous flea (photo 1). While the cabbage is small, pests are dangerous to it, they can quickly destroy tender leaves. And the moisture under the fabric is well preserved after watering.
By the way, I watered the cabbage without taking off my caps. And the elastic keeps them well on small containers even in strong winds.
Buckets with seedlings of flowers also covered them. They stood on the ground, and the slugs gladly pounced on the tender shoots. Now the barrier has prevented them.
In the ground, seedlings of Peking, broccoli and Savoy cabbage were planted in cylinders from five-liter bottles. I also put hats on them from above (photo 2-3). Liked. The cabbage leaves under them were very tender and without holes, and when the cabbage grew up and began to tie heads, I took off my top hats and caps, put arcs and covered them with non-woven from pests.
I tried to hide flower stalks with garden strawberries in hats to protect them from birds, slugs and from contact with the ground (photo 4-5). I put it on only on those flower stalks where there were already ovaries, so as not to interfere with pollination.
The berries remained clean, the gum prevented the pests from getting inside. After watering, the fabric dries quickly. Periodically, I looked into the caps and picked clean ripe berries. But when prolonged rains began, the caps had to be removed, as the berries under them began to deteriorate from constant dampness.
At the end of the season, I washed the hats with laundry soap, rinsed, dried and folded until next summer.
Disposable caps can be bought in pharmacies, in specialty stores that sell everything for hairdressers, or in wholesale warehouses for medical facilities. They are inexpensive, and with careful use will last more than one season. Be sure to try them in your garden. Perhaps you will find some other use for them.
Dear gardeners! I wish you that pests do not annoy you all season, that everything around blooms and pleases the eye! Let the cottage be only a joy to you.
