GROWING VERY, VERY LARGE TOMATOES - GARDENER AND SPECIALIST ADVICE
Large-fruited tomatoes are my weakness. Although only three can be removed from the bush, a maximum of four giant fruits. Therefore, I grow only 5-6 such bushes every year. To get the maximum result, I adhere to my rules.
I sow seeds for seedlings in late February-early March. First, I send seeds of mid-season varieties to pots. Closer to mid-March - precocious.
As soon as shoots appear, I put the seedlings on a warm loggia and install lamps for additional illumination. If this is not done, after transplanting into a greenhouse in adult tomatoes, the ovaries of the first brush may fall off.
At the beginning of May, and if the weather allows, then in the last decade of April, I plant tomatoes in a polycarbonate greenhouse according to the scheme 40 × 60 cm. I pour 1 tsp into the holes. superphosphate, a half-liter jar of ash and a shovel of humus. I mix everything with the earth and spill it well with water.
I tie bushes. I make the loop free. I form large-fruited tomatoes in one stalk, as I grow, I pluck out stepchildren.
I make sure that it is not hotter than +30 degrees in the greenhouse. If necessary, I water the structure with cold water from a hose. I put buckets of cold water between the bushes, pouring water on the paths.
I don’t overfeed tomatoes, otherwise, apart from beautiful foliage, you can get nothing. Usually a good dressing of the holes and one or two top dressings are enough. The first, and often the only one, I spend as soon as the fruits begin to form: 1 tsp. I dilute potassium monophosphate in a bucket of water, pour about 1 liter of nutrient solution under each bush. I feed a second time if I notice top rot. I plant calcium nitrate according to the instructions, spray the tomatoes on the leaves, and after 4-5 days I water the bushes with a solution of the same fertilizer under the root.
In order for the fruits to ripen, in the first half of August I remove the top from the plants, leaving two or three leaves above the last brush.

Experts comments
In general, the growing technology described by the author is suitable for all varieties of tomato. But when growing large-fruited varieties, there are nuances.
- Form a bush into one stem.
- Remove the first inflorescence.
- Pinch the growth point not in August, but immediately after the formation of two, maximum three inflorescences.
- Leave one or two ovaries in each inflorescence.
- Leave two leaves above the last brush.
If you follow these recommendations exactly, you can get two or three really huge fruits.
