GROWING WHITE EGGLANTS - THE BEST VARIETIES, PLANTING AND CARE
The fact that little blue ones are white is a well-known fact. They created such varieties not for the sake of paradox. Fruits have special valuable properties - for example, dessert, when eggplants are fragrant and tasty not only in processed, but even in raw form.
Pearly vegetables should certainly be sown, but dark ones should not be abandoned either. Both are needed, since sowing for seedlings and its preparation are no different.
CONDUCT PARALLELS
The more intense the color of the fruit, the more natural dyes in it, most often very useful. In eggplant skin, these are anthocyanins that slow down aging, reduce inflammation in the intestines, and are beneficial for the cardiovascular system and immunity. But white eggplants cannot boast of pigments in the skin, but they never cause allergies.
The flesh of "snow whites" is noticeably more tender, the peel is thinner, the taste is more pleasant. Purple, lilac, brownish and black fruits are often bitter due to solanine, so they sometimes have to be soaked before baking, frying or stewing. And white fruits are completely devoid of such a disadvantage.
CHOOSE THE MOST-BEST WHITE Eggplant
Among a considerable number of eggplants of the color of pure snow, there are also champions - the vegetables are the best in some limited and definite sense.
Harvest. Usually from 1 sq. m (as a rule, these are 4 bushes) you can get 5-6 kg of fruit. But the popular Lebediny variety, with proper agricultural technology, is able to produce up to 18 kg (!) Preliminary manipulations before cooking. And in general, these young eggplants can even be eaten raw in salads! Otherwise, the biochemical composition of all is the same.
True, dairy fruits are stored and transported worse, bushes are less resistant to diseases and pests, they require a little more attention to soil, moisture, and nutrition.
What white-fruited eggplants are worthy of attention? These are Leesberg, F, Aretussa, White Fairy, Snow White, Taste of Mushrooms. Pearl pendants, F1 Pelican, Fluff, Icicle.
So, in essence, they are only good as an addition to an eggplant plantation - tasty, safe and look luxurious. Due to the light color of the bakly (slang for amateur vegetable growers) they do not bake in the sun: hot rays do not leave ugly burns on the delicate skin.
With the growth of the bush is only about 70 cm, which is convenient both in open beds and under permanent or temporary shelters. In addition, the variety withstands sharp temperature fluctuations. Fruits are about 20 cm long and weigh no more than 250 g.
Small-fruited. If you immediately thought of the popular hybrid F, Ping-Pong, whose fruit-balls weigh 90 g, then you were mistaken. The champion in the most doll-like eggplants is the Oytsevidny variety, its fruits are 40 g each. And the yield, like that of traditional "pale-faced brothers", is within 6 kg per 1 sq. m.
Dessert. The Dutch F1 hybrid Bibo has several leadership qualities. It is considered one of the most unpretentious and disease resistant, so it is good for beginner gardeners. Due to the sweetish taste, it is called dessert! From a bush 80-85 cm high, up to 3 kg of fruits can be removed, which weigh 300-400 g each.
Home. The uniqueness of the F1 Bambi hybrid is unpretentiousness and decorativeness. The bush has a modest size, no higher than 50 cm, so it is often grown not only in open ground and greenhouses, but also at home, on balconies and loggias. Harvest of oval 70-gram fruits is not less than 4 kg per 1 sq. m. The hybrid can be grown for a long time in one place without crop rotation.
Ultra-early. When sown with high-quality seeds, the F1 hybrid White Night produces the first eggplants in 75 days and bears fruit until frost. Whereas early eggplants traditionally ripen in 90-110 days. The height of compact bushes for temporary shelters is about 70 cm. Cylindrical fruits are about 25 cm long, weigh 300-370 g, yield - up to 8 kg per 1 sq. m. Plants are resistant to disease and heat.

SEEDLING OF WHITE Eggplant
The seedling method of growing is the inevitable fate of eggplants, both colored and white-fruited. This is due to the long development - the seeds germinate slowly and the seedlings develop. Without a run in time, the plants will have time to completely give up the harvest, except perhaps in the south, but even there it is more reliable to plant seedlings in the garden.
It is clear that sowing dates vary in different regions. Therefore, they are determined based on the conditions of their zone according to the countdown system. For planting in open ground (under temporary shelters), seedlings should be 60-65 days old, for a greenhouse - 5-10 days older. Approximately 10 days are added, which are required for germination. It turns out that in the middle lane, seeds are sown no earlier than mid-February. If you hurry, before planting in the ground, the plants will be exhausted in cramped pots, they will stretch out a lot and will not give a full harvest.
A comic sign of gardeners: eggplant and pepper are male, so they are sown on the “male” holiday - February 23, and the tomato is female, so the correct sowing on Women's Day is March 8.
White eggplants were bred in the XNUMXth century. European breeders. They were called egg, because the fruits in shape and color resembled a chicken egg.
WE PREFER SPECIAL PACKAGING
Eggplants should be sown immediately in large individual containers, as they do not tolerate picking. Even a single transplant to the garden should be very careful. Therefore, the seeds must be sorted before sowing, selecting the largest ones, and even better - do this in advance and, if necessary, check the germination.
Half-liter plastic cups are yesterday. They let light through to the roots and don't have drainage holes. Peat pots do not hold their shape, and the substrate in them dries out quickly. You have to water often, the walls quickly soak and become covered with mold. There are better containers on the market. They greatly facilitate the transshipment of seedlings, make it painless for plants.
Reusable seedling cups made of durable plastic with a retractable bottom allow you to remove the plant with the ground with one click from the bottom without damaging the roots.
The box with partitions has 10 cells with a volume of 500 ml, which are formed by inserts-partitions in the form of walls. They are taken out when the seedlings have grown in order to lay earthen “cubes” in the holes in the garden. Box dimensions - 400x175x115 mm. It takes up a minimum of storage space - the partitions fold inward, and in this form the container is 4 times more compact.
Detachable pots in one motion are easy to divide exactly in half diagonally in order to freely remove the earthen clod from plastic.
PUTTING ON A NIGHT CAP
The containers are filled with purchased soil for seedlings or they prepare the substrate on their own. The following composition is recommended: 70% high-moor peat, 20% perlite, 10% biohumus. The soil should not be too fertile so that the roots grow better, moving deeper in search of food, otherwise the eggplant will be "lazy".
Dry seeds are laid out on the soil - branded, processed and germinated - one per pot. Sprinkle 0 cm with sand or vermiculite, spray, cover with a film on top and put where 5-28 °. The first shoots usually appear after 30-8 days. The shelter is removed, the pots are transferred to where it is 10 °, and placed under the phytolamp. In the first 20 days, lighting can be left for a day. From mid-March, seedlings are illuminated for a couple of hours in the morning and evening, and in cloudy weather - for 7-14 hours.
At night, eggplant seedlings need complete darkness so that flowers appear faster on plants, so they cover it, for example, with a box.
MOISTURIZING FROM THE SPRAYER
Seedlings are watered about once every 5-6 days under the root, and not over the leaves with warm (28-30 °) settled, but rather with melt water. Consumption is moderate and even scarce, only when the surface of the soil has dried out 1 cm deep. This stimulates root development, prevents blackleg and other fungal diseases, and makes plants more resistant to temperature changes. Use an atomizer or a fine sprayer to avoid breaking up the soil and dislodging the seeds at the initial stage.
WE FEED WHITE EGGLANTS THREE TIMES
If the soil was originally nutritious, the seedlings are not fed. If poor, for the first time it is watered with a solution of liquid complex mineral fertilizers for seedlings with two true leaves. Then twice more, every 10 days, increasing the concentration at first 1 times, then twice.
Pharmacy vitamin top dressing also works well if the seedlings slow down in growth. B1 increases immunity, enhances the development of green mass, B2 promotes the production of chlorophyll, saturates plant cells with oxygen. An ampoule of each is dissolved in 1 liter of water and the plants are sprayed on which 2 pairs of true leaves have appeared. Seedlings at the age of 30-40 days are generously sprinkled with a solution of vitamin B6 (an ampoule per 1 liter of water), which increases immunity and helps to withstand adverse environmental conditions.
All these top dressings are carried out in the evening, as vitamins are destroyed in the light. During the dark time of the day, they will have time to soak into the plants.
WE WORK FOR THE HARVEST
In seedlings of tall varieties, pinch the growth point after the 5th true leaf. After that, eggplants stop growing up for 3 weeks, but side shoots appear, and the bushes become stronger. Since the fruits mainly grow on side branches, pinching increases the yield noticeably.
Seedlings are taken out for hardening in a greenhouse when there is no danger that the night temperature will drop below 13 °. It is clear that during the day it should be higher - at least 18-20 °. After 4 days, the seedlings will become much more powerful.
By the time of planting on the garden bed, eggplants should be 20-25 cm high, have a thick stem, at least 6-7 real intensely colored leaves and the first buds.
Eggplants are useful for the elderly, hearts, those who have high cholesterol and who suffer from edema. If you regularly include eggplant in the menu, this will lower the level of cholesterol in the blood, increasing its release into bile, and will also stimulate its metabolism in the liver due to the high content of magnesium and potassium salts in fruits.
