I have already sorted through all the seeds, put them in piles - tomatoes, cucumbers, salads. Separately - a stack of expired seeds. Throw away? No matter how!

I will still fight for them. I know that the shelf life indicated on the bags is not a sentence. For example, tomato seeds can be stored for up to seven years, or even more. Checked dozens of times. Once I sowed the seeds of tomatoes that were 15 years old. They came up like little ones. Germination, of course, was not one hundred percent, but still it was. In different years, I sowed expired seeds of various crops, but before that I kept them in some kind of solution. You can wake them up!

A glass of vodka

The easiest and most favorite way for me is to hold the seeds in vodka.

You pour it into a glass, throw the seeds there, mix it and wait fifteen to twenty minutes. Then rinse thoroughly in running water. You can sow. Vodka will cheer anyone up!

potassium humate

Another one of my assistants is potassium humate. I dissolve 20 ml of potassium humate in 250 ml of water and immerse the seeds there for 15-20 hours. It is possible for a day. Then I wash it in water.

By the way, cuttings can be immersed in this solution (by 2/3) and left for the same time. Rooted better and faster.

Growth stimulants

Expired seeds can also be held in growth stimulants. I have this "Epin-Extra" (1-2 drops per 100 ml of water) and "Zircon" (2 drops per 100 ml of water). The seeds do not last long. In "Epin" 4-6 hours, in "Zircon" a little more - 6-8 hours.

Better not risk it

I don't keep seeds in hot water, especially in a thermos. It is difficult to maintain the temperature regime, and it is very simple to cook the seeds. And why do it, W if there are many less risky ways.

If too dry

But it also happens that seeds that have not yet expired germinate poorly and for a long time. Especially often this happens with eggplants and peppers, and even tomatoes. Manufacturers do this on purpose: immersed in a deep sleep, they are stored longer. In this case, bubbling will help.

I do it like this. In a jar of 0 liters, I pour a quarter of melt water and put the seeds there. The water temperature should be slightly below room temperature. I immerse the tip of a conventional aquarium compressor to the bottom and turn it on. Seeds bask in air bubbles for different times. Tomatoes - 7-12 hours. Peppers and eggplant take longer, about a day. □

SOAKING THE SEEDS - FOLK REMEDIES

To stimulate the germination of seeds, the people most often use honey, ash and aloe. Here are the solution recipes.

HONEY SOLUTION

In 200 ml of water, dissolve 1 teaspoon of honey and lower the seeds there. Withstand 5-6 hours, washed in water and dried.

ALOE JUICE

The lower leaves are taken from a plant that is at least 3 years old, wrapped in a dark cloth or placed in a plastic bag and kept in the refrigerator for a week. The juice is diluted with water 1:1 and the seeds are dipped. Keep 15-20 hours. Very old seeds can be placed in a cut on the leaf and kept there until germination. It is believed that aloe juice is not suitable for soaking cucumber, zucchini, pumpkin, onion, celery and pepper seeds.

ASH SOLUTION

In 1 liter of water, dilute 2 tbsp. spoons of ash, insist 2 days. Gauze is well moistened in this infusion, the seeds are wrapped in it, and placed in a bag. Keep 4-7 hours.
