Growing an orange in the Middle lane in a tub through grafting
GROWING ORANGE IN TUBE CULTURE AND SECRETS OF VACCINATION
In the conditions of the middle lane, this southern fruit should be grown in tub culture. From the seeds of store-bought oranges, you can grow a pretty indoor tree that will begin to bear fruit in 10-20 years. But there is one secret that allows you to get homemade oranges faster: graft a cutting taken from a fruiting orange tree.
The nuances of sowing an orange
Prepare a pot with a volume of about 2 liters and fertile soil. Rinse the bones, hold for about an hour in hot water (not higher than +60 degrees) or soak for 10-12 hours in water at room temperature and plant in the ground to a depth of
2,5 cm (a few seeds in each pot). Pour over and cover the container with cling film. You will have to wait about three weeks for seedlings. All this time, do not remove the film, just ventilate the mini-greenhouse a little. Transplant the strongest seedling of those that have ascended into a large pot.
Sowing time | Any time of the year |
Temperature | The optimum temperature is + 18 ... + 20 degrees in summer and + 12 ... + 15 degrees in winter |
Humidity | Not less than 40%. Frequent spraying is also needed (after this procedure, the tree must be shaded) |
Watering | Excessive moisture of the earth, especially in winter, leads to rotting of the roots and death of the plant. The frequency of watering is selected individually: when the earth dries up, then it's time to moisten |
Feeding | You need to fertilize the tree every 2 weeks from March to the end of October. In 10 liters of water, 20 g of potash, phosphorus and nitrogen fertilizers are mixed. Once a month, a few grains of potassium permanganate are added to this mixture. |
Lighting | An excess of light leads to damage to the leaves, so the plant pot should be placed in a bright place, but not under direct sunlight. In winter, artificial lighting is required. If the tree does not have enough light, the fruits will not ripen or will have a bitter taste. |
Orange Grafting - Highlights
The earlier the vaccination is done (from the moment the scion is cut), the greater the chances of successful fusion.
It is easier to work when the thickness of the stock and scion is the same - about the size of a pencil. It is desirable that the stock at the time of vaccination is actively growing.
It is better not to delay the operation: you must try to work quickly and accurately.
The cut should be done with a sharp knife, better - grafting.
It is more convenient to inoculate by the method of copulation. It is necessary to connect the rootstock with the scion, aligning their cambium layers on both sides. Wrap tightly with insulating or grafting tape so that they do not move. After that, put a bag on top of the plant, tying it from the bottom to create high humidity at the grafting site. The grafted plant is placed in a bright warm place (+ 20 ... + 30 degrees), but not under direct sunlight. Three weeks later, the package is removed, and after another couple of weeks, the strapping. If the scion does not turn black, the vaccination was successful.
At the beginning of spring, the orange tree is covered with snow-white fragrant flowers. It is not necessary to pollinate them for fruit setting. However, the air temperature in the room at this time should not exceed +27 degrees. With a higher tower, the pollen becomes sterile.
TIP: If the tree is not leafy, it is better to remove some of the ovaries. For normal fruit formation, one fruit should have 15-20 leaves. Fruits ripen 8-10 months.

MY EXPERIENCE
Having mastered the grafting, you can safely graft various varieties, other citrus fruits on the same orange seedling, turning it into a tree garden. For many years I have been growing an orange Korolek, on which two dozen different citrus fruits are grafted: orange, lemon, tangerine, citron, calamondin, orange, grapefruit.

FACT: ORANGE'S DESTINATION PERIOD STARTS IN NOVEMBER AND LASTS UNTIL FEBRUARY. IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE THE PLANT WITH A COOL WINTER AT + 12 ... + 16 DEGREES, IT WILL LIVE NO MORE THAN FOUR YEARS. IF EVERYTHING IS DONE CORRECTLY, THE TREE WILL LIVE UP TO 70 YEARS.
