HOW TO CARE FOR ROSES IN DIFFERENT MONTHS OF THE YEAR: SCHEDULE-CALENDAR
The seasonal calendar is compiled for roses that have already taken root and are growing on the site. Performing activities from spring to autumn allows you to maintain plant health and stimulates bright and lush flowering.
Compiled by Lyudmila Vinogradova, Ph.D. Ph.D., member of the Moscow Flower Growers club, plant collector, landscape designer
ROSE CARE IN MARCH
The start of work is determined by the weather conditions of the growing region. Actions should be initiated when the snow melts and weak positive daytime temperatures are established.
It is necessary to prevent the "steaming" of plants under cover, for this they arrange airing: they slightly open the ends of the tunnels, reduce the number of layers if the bushes were wrapped with non-woven material, etc.
ROSE CARE IN APRIL
By the end of March, as a rule, all shelters are removed completely. The final opening is carried out on a cloudy, calm day or in the late afternoon so that the plant does not get burned.
When the soil dries up around the bushes, its top layer is loosened.
Sanitary pruning is carried out (all blackened, broken and moldy shoots are removed). With visible swelling of the buds, cut the roses in accordance with the group. To avoid loss of nutrients, this must be done before the leaves bloom.
Plants are treated against diseases and pests - one of the copper-containing preparations mixed with karbofos in accordance with the instructions. Spray the bushes before the leaves bloom.
ROSE CARE IN MAY
When the soil temperature reaches 10 ° C (leaves have grown up to 2 cm on the birch), the plants are fed on the soil. When using organic fertilizers (rotted manure), it is preferable to choose horse. If it was used as a winter mulch-insulator, then it remains only to embed it in the soil and water it if necessary. When choosing mineral fertilizers, it is advisable to use a water-soluble complex mineral fertilizer at the rate of 1-2 tbsp. spoons under the plant or calcium nitrate in the same dosage. After fertilization, the plants are watered.
Roses are watered abundantly (1-2 times a week in case of hot weather and light soils), 5-10 liters per bush, respectively.
At the end of May, plants for the prevention of diseases are treated with a solution of "Ecogel" (10-20 ml / l) or "Epin-Extra" on the sheet. You can add one of the biological preparations for diseases to the solution: "Allirin" (2 tablets \ l) or "Fitosporin-M" powder (3 g \ 10 l).
ROSE CARE IN JUNE
If pesticides were not used in early spring or they still appeared (leaf cicadas on the back of the leaves or aphids on young shoots-buds), the plants are treated according to the Fitoverm sheet according to the instructions. If a large number of only aphids appeared, then wet leaves (for sticking) are pollinated with sifted ash. In addition to eliminating the pest, the ash will also work as a foliar top dressing.
The bushes are watered once a week abundantly, with wetting the soil to a depth of 30-40 cm.
At the end of June, faded shoots are cut in accordance with the group of roses. It is better not to delay the operation, waiting until everything has faded - this will delay the laying of new buds for re-blooming.
Cropped shoots can be cut, it is better to do this in separate cups in order to put them in a frost-free room for the winter.
After pruning, roses are fed: infusion of horse manure or chicken manure, diluted 10-15 times, respectively. Apply under the root in the amount of 3-5 liters, depending on the size of the bush. It can be replaced with complex mineral fertilizer 15-30 g (1 - 2 tablespoons) under a bush, followed by watering or watering under the root with infusion of ash (1 l \ 10 l of water).
ROSE CARE IN JULY
The bushes are pruned, cut, watered abundantly, taking into account the moisture capacity of their soil, in order to prevent waterlogging.
Plants are sprayed against pathogens (including powdery mildew): "Allirin" + "Gamair" 2 tab. Each NAA l.
2 weeks after the previous feeding, fertilizers are reapplied, excluding organic infusions. Ash or potassium monophosphate is welcome. Either dry in the soil, or with a solution on the leaf and soil (2 tablespoons per 10 liters).
ROSE CARE IN AUGUST
Plants are sprayed against pathogens (including powdery mildew): "Allirin" + "Gamair" 2 tab. each per liter with the addition of potassium monophosphate at the rate of 5-10 g / 1 liter. Abundant watering is stopped after August 15 - only natural precipitation.
The last top dressing is carried out with a predominance of phosphorus and potassium - potassium monophosphate or ash at a dose of 30 g / bush or 1 glass of ash / bush.
After August 15, neither flowers nor shoots are cut on the bushes. From flowering flowers, only the petals are harvested.
At the end of August, fallen and diseased leaves are collected and burned.
ROSE CARE IN SEPTEMBER
Young red shoots emerging from the ground are not pruned.
Spray the bushes with a solution of potassium monophosphate at a concentration of 10 g / l.
The petals are harvested from faded flowers.
Plantings are protected from fungal diseases in the winter: at a temperature not lower than 15-18 ° C, the bushes and the soil are sprayed nearby with a solution of "Allirin" + "Gamaira", 2 tablets each. each If the weather is cool, you can use a chemical preparation. At the same time, treat only the plants themselves, without affecting the soil.
ROSE CARE IN OCTOBER
Prepare roses for winter. It is advisable to protect the plants from autumn rains no later than October 15th. They put shelters on a support. If polyethylene film is used as a covering material, then the ends of the tunnels remain completely open until stable frosts, after which they are closed.
If roses are protected with a non-woven covering material, then this is done after the onset of mild frosts, on frozen soil.
To insulate the grafting site, rotted horse manure is used as a high mulch along a pre-dried trunk circle.
