VERTICAL GARDENING OF THE GARDEN AND LIANA
Climbing plants are still leading in vertical gardening. They deserve such popularity for a reason. Due to the rapid development and growth characteristics, these crops are able to ennoble any corner of the garden in a short time.
Creepers are planted at arches, trellises, pergolas, arbors, fences and tripling walls, as well as as a screen that protects from the wind around a garden, playground or other area of the site.
CHOICE OF vines
Annual vines are great for quick and temporary decoration of unsightly places for one season. They are grown through seedlings, planted in open ground after sufficient heating of the soil. All of them bloom for a long time from June-July until late autumn.
Perennial creepers are conditionally divided into covering (for winter) and non-covering. Non-covering have good winter hardiness. They do not need to be removed from the supports, so often such plants are planted along the fence. Particularly suitable for this purpose are fences made of ribbed mesh with a wire diameter of 2 mm or more.
Such a mesh has good strength and allows plantings to receive enough sunlight. Also, uncovered vines are planted at patio supports, pergolas, arches, around gazebos, at the entrance to the site, at the gate or entrance gate. Often used as a reinforcement of slopes and soils prone to erosion. In this case, the whips do not cling to the supports, but allow them to grow on the ground in a chaotic manner. In a short time, plants quickly occupy the space of a slope or a problem area and firmly strengthen it. All these creepers require shelter only at a young age and after planting or transplanting. In the future, they acquire good winter hardiness and do not need protection.
Covering vines are less winter-hardy. They need to be removed from supports and covered, so more often such crops are planted in one copy to facilitate access and care for them. Covering perennials decorate the walls of buildings, arches, small trellises, the entrance to the house. For them, warmer and protected places from strong winds or drafts are selected.

VINES - IDEAS FOR THE GARDEN
When landscaping the territory with lianas, bouquet plantings (2-3 copies each) from one or different species, similar in terms of growing conditions, look spectacular.
A good option would be repeated repetition of small architectural forms on the site. For example, instead of one arch, it is better to put several pieces in a row, creating a semblance of a tunnel. Such compositions will also be appropriate along a dry stream. Often, instead of one pergola or gazebo, two or more are located on the site, decorating them with vines in a common color scheme. No need to be afraid of repetition. According to the rules, in order to avoid chaos and arrange the site in the same style, there must be at least 3 repetitions in shape or color palette.
Due to the rapid growth of the vines, the lower part is exposed and the decorative effect is reduced. I recommend supplementing the planting of climbing shrubs with low annuals or perennials. Catnip, woolly cleaner, petunia, surfinia, undersized marigolds are perfect. A good option would be to plant ground cover miniature roses or dwarf conifers at the foot of the vines.
Depending on the location of cultivation, some covering vines may do without winter protection. If this is a region without severe winters or the planting site is protected from strong winds, then plants such as kampsis, honeysuckle honeysuckle, fruit grapes, large-flowered clematis and bird rose can not be removed from their supports and not covered. It is good enough to mulch the ground near the trunk circle.
LIANA CARE IS MINIMAL
During the season, vines need minimal care: timely pruning of branches to give the desired shape, fertilizing with nitrogen (in early spring), potassium and phosphorus (in summer) and mulching the trunk circle so that the soil does not dry out in the absence of moisture, and the roots do not overheat in the heat.
