TRITELEY-BRODIAY - LANDING AND CARE
Tell us about growing tritelei in the garden of the middle lane.
Glina Pavlovna
- Tritelea is a bulbous herbaceous plant up to 60 cm high, with narrow leaves and star-shaped flowers, collected in an umbrella inflorescence and pleasing with beauty in June-July. Most often on sale there are bulbs of Triteley loose (synonymous -brodiea california) Queen Fabiola varieties with large flowers, the color of which can vary from blue to blue-violet depending on growing conditions, light intensity, soil fertility.
The variety hibernates in the middle lane and endures frosts up to -23 degrees, subject to the following conditions:
- landing in an open, sunny place, well protected from the wind, for example, by the wall of a building;
- light nutrient soil of neutral reaction with a drainage layer. Tritelea does not tolerate stagnant moisture and close groundwater - the bulb can rot;
- when planting in the hole, you need to add humus and coarse river sand for looseness;
- you can plant in the fall (like tulips - from the end of September to the end of October), but it is better in the spring - in April. In this case, the bulbs will grow faster and adapt more easily. Planting material is planted to a depth of 7-8 cm, the distance between specimens is 10 cm. It is better to plant in curtains of 20 pieces, then the flowering will be bright, plentiful and attractive;
- for the winter, plants should be mulched with a thick layer of peat or humus.
Subject to the above rules, tritelea takes root well and gives many daughter bulbs, which, growing, form spectacular “rugs” of flowers of blue-violet hues.
