What is the difference between a standard raspberry and a simple one?
RASPBERRY NOT SIMPLE - STAMP. DIFFERENCE FROM USUAL
The standard raspberry is popularly called the raspberry tree, it has a strong thickened stem, which allows it to be grown without the use of a trellis.
The first variety - Tarusa - was registered in 1993. To date, raspberry growers successfully grow other varieties of standard raspberries - Krepysh, Galaktika, Skazka, Penguin, Eurasia.
The bushes of this raspberry are usually of medium height (up to 2 m), compressed form. They look very decorative, while the shoots are powerful, and the number of root offspring is average. Annual shoots are upright, very thick, hard, with shortened internodes, without thorns. The crop is formed on two-year-old shoots in the summer months. The berries are large.
The root system of a raspberry tree is quite deep, denser than that of an ordinary garden raspberry. It does not spread over the site, but goes down to a depth of 60 cm. This makes it invulnerable in severe frosts.
Caring for standard raspberries is similar to caring for ordinary summer raspberries: two-year-old shoots that bear fruit must be cut to the soil level in autumn. And those that are left for fruiting should be shortened by 3-5 cm in early spring of next year. If some of the shoots are damaged, broken or frozen, they are cut off to the first living bud.
You can plant plants in open ground in spring and autumn. The area should be well lit.
Standard raspberries can be propagated by cuttings and shoots. In the first case, in the spring, the raspberry bush is dug up and the parts on which there are already 2-3 buds are carefully separated from its roots. Segments are planted for growing on a seed bed sheltered from the sun or in a mixture of sand and peat.
