GROWING MANDATORY(!) SWEET STRAWBERRY
I started, of course, not with my own mistakes (who would want to admit to them?!), but with the search for the best variety. In general, this path was correct, but thorny.
LOOKING FOR A SWEET STRAWBERRY
Many acquired mustaches ended up in the compost heap after the first fruiting, but the best one never happened to be found. Therefore, I resigned myself to a “not-huge” yield, this is not the most important thing. I needed sweet, early, large enough berries. And that the variety was winter-hardy.
So Vima Kimberly, Zenga Zengana, Maryshka and Honey turned out to be in my garden. Then I planted a later variety Gigantella Maxim. Of the repairers, I liked Lydia Norwegian the most, which bears fruit from June to October.
EDUCATION OF SENSES
And then the realization came that the ability of the variety to produce sweet berries is not everything. What is needed is the ability to properly care for strawberries.
And again, this is not a fact that the berries will grow sweet and fragrant. Here you need to know some subtleties. And to feel when and what this culture wants.
NETTLE INfusion FOR STRAWBERRY SWEETS
Nettles are stuffed into a container, poured with water, insisted for 10-12 days. When top dressing for 10 liters of water, take 1 liter of infusion. Under each plant contribute 1 liter of solution.
For example, in early spring, strawberries need to grow a good rosette of leaves; nitrogen fertilizers are indispensable here.
In fact, I prefer to use organic matter, but newly awakened plants will not be able to assimilate it immediately. Therefore, the first top dressing is only mineral water. Sockets at this time are so weak, and I want to give them more nitrogen. But I overdid it a little - increased leaf growth will begin, to the detriment of flowering.
When flower stalks appear, I switch to phosphorus. It helps to set more berries. I usually use ash, but sometimes I dissolve superphosphate in water.

REFLECTIONS BY THE BERRY PED
And here it is - a solemn moment: the berries begin to grow. They would be fed. But! First, what? Second, how? Theoretically, everything is clear: to improve the taste when pouring fruits, plants need potassium. But in the form of what? Mineral fertilizers at this time seem to me not entirely safe - the berries ripen very quickly.
Perhaps agronomists will convince me that everything is not at all like that. Then another question arises: how to deliver mineral water to plants? Pour, dissolving in water? Scatter on the ground? But after all, the berries literally lie on the ground - they will certainly get dirty in this chemistry, and no washing will help. Foliar top dressing is also excluded.
ASH IS OUR ALL
After weighing all the pros and cons, I settled on the ashes. Of course, most of all it contains calcium, but also a lot of potassium.
There are also trace elements, including boron and zinc, which will help both increase the yield and accelerate the ripening of berries.
It is easier to scatter ash around the plants at the beginning of the tying of berries; at the time of ripening, it will already be in the plants. But since I always do not have enough ash, I prefer to dissolve it in water and use it for watering when the berries begin to ripen.
You can also use nettle infusion, there is also a lot of potassium. But at the same time, this infusion contains up to 50% nitrogen, and now it is not really needed. Although you can take a chance, especially if the appearance of the plants is not very good.
TASTE IS BORN IN DISPUTES
That's what I will never use during the ripening of strawberries, so this is manure, even rotted. I would venture to disagree with the respected author of "DACHA" Valery Zakotin, who several years ago in his article recommended using it at this time.
And that's why. Firstly, because of the large amount of nitrogen, which will surely provoke the growth of leaves to the detriment of the crop. Ripe berries will become watery, tasteless, and begin to rot. We need sweet berries.
Secondly, because of the high probability that manure will also fall on the berries.
And then, where is the measure - rotten, not rotten, slightly rotten?! Step left, step right - and here it is, an intestinal infection.
And, of course, the berries will be large, sweet and juicy only with timely watering.
HOW TO PREPARE ASH SOLUTION FOR STRAWBERRY FERTILIZATION
1 liter of boiling water, mix, adding water, bring the volume to 10 liters.
Use instead of water for irrigation.
WHAT STRAWBERRY NEED - DAISY SHOW
Due to the lack of moisture, strawberries become smaller and become dry. When overflowing, they quickly deteriorate, rot, lose their taste and aroma. In order not to tempt fate, I plant daisies among strawberries. Passing by the beds, I admire them and at the same time look closely: they look satisfied with life - well, they drooped a little - it's time to water the strawberries. They have never let me down!
